Writing the Story

Writing this story was a challenge for me because I wanted to craft a compelling narrative while also incorporating accurate mathematical terms. I chose the standard 2.G.1 because it allowed me to solely focus on identifying shapes using the number of sides rather than covering multiple concepts. The narrative of the story is interesting and exciting, which allows students to stay focused while listening. I decided to include a map for students because it allows them to see what shapes are being talked about. They can follow the path of the story and feel as though they are on the search with the main character, Ana.

Telling the Story

This assignment taught me how important enthusiastic reading is. To keep students interested and engaged, I need to become part of the book and act out certain parts. I also need to not be shy about reading in front of my peers.
